A. SINOPSIS

Buku karangan Paula Hawkins ini terfokus pada hilangnya Megan Hipwell. Sang tokoh utama, Rachel, sering melihat rumah Hipwell dari jendela kereta. Saat kereta berhenti tepet di depan rumah Hipwell, ia senang melihat pasangan Hipwell saat bercengkrama mesra di teras rumah mereka. Ia teringat dengan masa-masa bahagia yang ia lalui barsama mantan suaminya, Tom. Sebenarnya, Rachel belum bisa “move on “dari Tom. Mantan suaminya itu telah menikah kembali dengan Anna dan telah memiliki anak bernama Evie, mereka tinggal di rumah tempat ia dengan Tom dulu tinggal, satu wilayah dengan Hipwell. Suatu hari ia melihat sesuatu yang tidak biasa terjadi di rumah Hipwell. Saat mendengar Megan hilang, ia ingin membantu Scott Hipwell mencari istrinya yang hilang dengan memberikan informasi yang ia punya.

1. Tema : pencarian seseorang
2. Penokohan :
·         Rachel : prihatin, baik hati, (membantu keluarga Hipwell untuk mencari Megan Hipwell yang menghilang )
·         Megan Hipwell : penyayang, romantis (saat bencengkrama mesra dengan suaminya)
·         Scott Hipwell : baik, setia, pekerja keras, (mencari istrinya, Megan Hipwell yang menghilang dengan sekuat tenaga )
·         Tom : tidak setia, (menikah kembali dengan Anna )
·         Anna : penyayang, (mau menerima tom yang sudah pernah menikah karena rasa sayangnya)
3. Plot/alur
Alur yang digunakan adalah alur maju mundur, karena diceritakan dari awal hingga akhir, namun ditengah-tangah cerita kembali ke masa lalu ).
4. Setting/latar
·         waktu : pagi hari, siang , malam hari.
·         Tempat : London (tempat kerja Rachel, di kereta, di teras rumah keluarga Hipwell.
·         Suasana : menegangkn saat mengetahui bahwa Megan Hipwell menghilang.
5. Sudut pandang : sudut pandang orang ketiga, karena menggunakan kata “ia/dia/nama tokoh”.
6. Amanat :
·         Kita tidak boleh egois dan harus peduli terhadap hak orang lain.
·         Bantulah orang lain, selama kita bisa membantunya.
